Presentation Abstract:
In 2007, librarians at Ashland University Library began a project to develop a full range of subject guides using Springshare’s LibGuides, a “Web 2.0 content management and information sharing system designed specifically for libraries.” LibGuides are user-friendly, efficient electronic resources that invite collaboration between librarians and instructors to meet the research needs of a particular department, class, or assignment. This session will illustrate how LibGuides can be successfully incorporated into library web sites and courseware, provide an overview of guide creation and use, and allow participants to brainstorm fresh ideas on how LibGuides could be used in their libraries. Objectives:
- Participants will learn how teaching faculty and librarians can creatively customize a group of resources for use in course management systems or course pages.
- Participants will be able to identify several benefits of using LibGuides in their libraries and classes.
- Participants will learn how to quickly organize content into a LibGuide.
Visit our LibGuide created specifically to demonstrate the many LibGuides features as well as to show how you can use your guides as tools to deliver information.
You will also see a slide show of our PowerPoint presented at LLT on March 1, 2009 under the LLT Presentation Tab. http://libguides.ashland.edu/libguideshowto
